Find your footing
Regular conversations with leaders, prayer, careful listening beyond the board when appropriate, and attention to worship and essential responsibilities.
God loves small churches. So do we. When pastoral leadership changes or the future feels uncertain, an experienced pastor can walk beside your congregation as you find your next faithful step.
See how we work togetherOur conviction ↓A small congregation can worship faithfully, care for its people, serve its neighbors, and bear witness to Christ. Its size does not make its ministry less meaningful.
Strong Small Churches offers pastoral companionship when a church is between pastors, recovering from strain, or wondering what it can sustain. We begin by listening, praying, and discovering the strengths God has already placed among you. Your leaders and congregation remain responsible for their decisions.
We begin with a conversation and a written understanding of the work. Together, we name the people who should be heard, a few signs of progress, and the support your church actually needs.
Regular conversations with leaders, prayer, careful listening beyond the board when appropriate, and attention to worship and essential responsibilities.
Name the gifts, relationships, ministries, resources, and local leadership already present. Add simple systems where they would ease the load.
Consider realistic options for pastoral leadership and mission. Review progress together and let the congregation choose its next faithful step.
For a church between pastors, Sunday can feel especially fragile. Strong Small Churches can help local leaders plan worship, prayer, Scripture, and preaching support appropriate to the church’s tradition.
The congregation remains the worshiping community. Recorded teaching or other resources, when useful and agreed upon, can bridge a season while local leadership grows and sustainable pastoral options take shape.
“What would it look like for this congregation, with the people and resources God has actually given it, to take its next faithful step?”
The emerging model starts with a no-charge, 45-minute conversation, followed when appropriate by a time-limited pastoral partnership. The first pilot is intended for two or three churches, with a proposed 90-day rate of $500 per month.
A future network of small churches may offer continuing prayer, shared learning, and practical resources. That network is a developing part of the vision, not a requirement for taking the first step.
Tell me about your church →I have been a small church pastor for nearly thirty years, serving four congregations. I love small churches dearly and believe they are special places: people know one another, share life and faith, and can serve their neighbors in deeply personal ways. I also know the tenderness and complexity of leading a church through change.
I hold a B.A. in Accounting, a Master of Divinity, and a Doctor of Ministry, all from Anderson University. In this work, I bring pastoral care together with careful listening, clear observation, and practical action.
I am based in Rochester, Minnesota, and I serve small churches with curiosity, candor, and hope.
A first conversation is a chance to share what is happening, what you are hoping for, and whether Strong Small Churches might be helpful.
